Card Patterns Sketch #66

I want to make a "Live Life Wisely" card for my friend, I beleive Card Patterns sketch 66 is the right one for me to do it.

Here is the card I made.
Unfortunately, now it's 4:30pm in the afternoon, the sun light just not right for photos.
I always want to use natural light to take photos, so that is what I can get today.

Designer Paper

There was a survey in Belgium for people aged at 70.

The survey was asking the most important happy factors for them, the result was very surprising. GRATEFUL was ranked first, FORGIVING was second, Hobby was third, FRIENDS was 4th, FAMILY was 5th. While people are discussing why FAMILY only ranked as 5th impotance, but I was paying attention to the HOBBY, which ranked at 3rd, but actually you can said HOBBY is the most important happy factor, since GRATEFUL and FORGIVING are both intangible things.

I am glad that I have "CARD MAKING" as my hobby now, and I always feel happy after I completed a card with all my heart.

Today, I want to use one of the designer paper I have for a card, I do have a lot of designer papers, but not really thinking of them when I am making a card.

I used two designer papers from Memory Box, the series of FROND. Here is a closer look for it.

Stamp with us sketch challenge

This is a challenge from Stamp with us on May 23, 2010.
Happen that I need to make a birthday card, so I decided to follow the sketch pattern, then give it a try.

This is the card I made.
The stamp I used is from Stampin' Up, the card size is 5x5.

A closer look of the card.
I addes some glossy accents from Ranger to the cake, to make it more juicy.

PDCC#31 & TESC115 Challenge

I was preparing to make a card for Taylored Expression Sketch Challenge #115, then I found The Play Date Cafe Color Challenge. I thought it's a good idea to make one card for both challenges.

This is the card I made.

This is the card with the stamp.

Here is a closer look for the cute little girl with a bunch of flowers.
Thanks to both TE and PDC for providing such a wonderful challenge. I had a lot of fun making this card for both challenges.

Silhouette Bells Cards

I love this Silhouette Bells stamp, I bought it for a while, but only until recently, I got the feeling of how to use it. Here I want to share the three cards I made.

1st is embossed with silver embossing powder for background, the I use Copic markers to color the flowers. Unfortunately, I only have limited Copic markers, so I can't really make the flowers look more pop.

The second is the same, I used silver embossing powder to emboss the background, then I used blending tool to apply distressed inks. It's difficult to control the details between flower and leaf, so maybe this is not the best way for this card.

The 3rd, I decided just use versa magic jumbo java color to stamp the background, then I simply used the color pencils to color it. I used four differnt yellow color pencils to paint the flowers, and it looks better than the 2nd one.
Dear bloggers, which one you like better ?

Taylored Expression Sketch Challenge #114

It was last minute when I saw the challenge from Taylored Expression.
This is the pattern of their challenge #114.

This was the card I made and submitted 10 minutes before the collection was closed.
Here is the stamp and the card.

It doesn't matter I win or not, because I had a lot of fun making this card.
And, I am thinking of attending TE's next challenge by using the same stamp.
(Closer look of the little girl with a bunch of flowers.)

I taught people how to make Mother's Day cards

It's a program arranged by "Created with Love",
I taught customers to make Mother's Day Cards in 10 minutes one week before Mother's Day.

Following are the 4 sample cards I made for customers to choose to make.
I was very glad that now I can teach people how to make cards, more important is that
I am spreading happy seeds to people, I hope that they will find the happiness by handmade cards themselves.

A baby card for Suan2

Suan2 is expecting a baby girl, I made her a welcome baby card before she took maternity leave.
It's so cute.

Cards for my friends

I made two cards, one is the day time look, for my dear S.L. in Melbourne,
another one is night look for W.Y. who is having night conference calls all the time.

I hope that they will be happy to receive my cards.

Attending Impression Obsession color challenge

I sent three cards for Impression Obsession color challenge,
two were chosen for the challenge, and posted on IO's blog.

Following are the blog administrator Shirley said about my cards.

First we have two cards from Mandy. She is using Gary Robertson's Sunflower Frame. The first is just so lovely, with that wonderful hand painted background! Perfect for that bold flower. Beautiful, Mandy, and thank you for playing.

Here is Mandy's second contribution for this challenge using the same stamp. Very bright and cheerful, and a beautiful sample of how the same stamp can be used to create two perfectly different cards that are just as lovely! Thanks again, Mandy, and good luck in the drawing too!

Different point of view

For the best outcome of the investment I put on stamps,
I always want to make at least 3-4 cards by using the same stamp.

The first card was just using purple ink to stamp the background,
use purely white cardstock to stamp the flowers, cut the flowers,
then attached back to the purple cardstock.

The second one was stamped by oliver green ink, but the outcome was not to my satisfaction.

The 3rd card was stamped by black archival ink, I was trying to make a night look for this card.
the flowers were stamped in a gold cardstock, cut them out, then attached back to the black cardstock. Not too bad, but not shining enough.

The 4th card, the background was embossed by gold embossing powder, then stamp the flowers in white cardstock, colored them, cut them, then attached back to the main cardstock. This was shining eough.

The 5th card, it was embossed by gold embossing powder, then I kept the flowers in black, because I wanted to show the contrast for the colors.

The 6th card (the last one), I used clear embossing powder on a stamped background card, then applied distressed inks.
It was fun to make the same card by using different techniques. I just want to express all the different point of view from the same stamp.

A happy Hello

This is a happy card I made, the little bunny looks surprised and shy when the bird was trying to say hello and make friends with him.

I hope that a happy card can deliver happiness to everyone who saw this card.

I went to CHA 2010 Winter show

This was totally not in my plan, but I went to CHA 2010 Winter Show and Super Show in LA this January.

My eyes were wild opened, there are so many stamps, inks, emblishments, card pad...companies, I was like a happy fish swimming in the big ocean.

My job was to purchase new stuffs for "Created With Love", the most famous stamping and scrapbooking company in Taiwan.

I spent 6 days there, I made as many Make-n-Take as I can, and of course I bought a lot of products for "Created With Love" and myself. :)

The fun part in CHA was that I met several great people I admired, such as Jennifer MeGurie, Tim Holtz, Shari Carrol, Teresa Collins..... It was really a wonderful advanture and learning trip for me.

Tiger Year Thank you card

This year is Tiger year, I used a very cute tiger stamp from Kodomo to make some thank you cards, I want to thanks all from friends, colleagues who gave me the best stupport before and after my retirement.

These are cute THANK YOU cards, isn't it ?!

When I started to make cards

I can't believe that one day I will be totally enjoyed by making cards.

I just got started from this January, I am learning everyday to make cards so that I will be happy to send to a friend.
Attached was the first card I made, funny isn't it. At that time, I used the material and tools I found from my daughter's room.
I am just retired, and I am glad that I found card making can be my most joyful hobby, and I decided to use the cards I made to write my diary.
